Keratin is a protein naturally present in living creatures. The outer layer of your hair is made of keratin. Everybody's hair contains a different amount of keratin. When your hair looks damaged, that means that the outer layer of keratin on your hair is damaged.

These treatments reinfuse your hair with keratin. It is also known as "Brazilian Keratin" or "Japanese Hair Straightening". First, a special compound of keratin is applied. Then, the keratin is infused into your hair, employing heat as a sealant.

Absolutely not! Keratin treatments are actually great for your hair. After your treatment, your hair will be stronger and less prone to breakage. Keratin treatments seal in color and moisture while providing a layer of protection.

Keratin treatments wash away gradually over time, but with proper care, the treatment effects last longer — about 12 weeks, depending on the type of treatment received. Limit your exposure to chlorine and saltwater as much as possible. Leave your hair down and unstyled for the first few days. Blow-dry your hair after washing. If you have fine hair, we can recommend the appropriate keratin treatment, in such case a less intensive treatment such as Organic. Keratin treatments are remarkably effective. They can take the unmanageable and frizziest hair and turn it into a glossy, great looking hair. The keratin works by sealing the cuticle of your hair to create a glossy look.

It depends on the kind of keratin treatment you received. The less intensive lasts on average, between one and two months. The most intensive can last about four months or longer, depending on how often you wash your hair as well as how often your hair is exposed to saltwater, chlorine, and the sun.

It is very important that keratin treatments are done AFTER doing highlights. Highlights or bleaching your hair may ruin the keratin treatment. As opposed to this, we recommend getting a keratin treatment BEFORE coloring your hair just because with certain types of keratin you could experiment subtle tone changes. For blondes we have a special type of treatment that prevents or reduces the chances of color change. If the color tone ever changes, a toner may be used.
